Noisecreep Interview With Matt - Is It "Un-Metal" To Have Manners?
NoiseCreep just posted this great interview with Matt where he discusses (among other things) the misconception that metal musicians need to be "grizzly, hard men who get into fights and snort cocaine", and how he does not fit that stereotype. Check out the article here and discuss amongst yourselves. If a metal musician is nice and well-mannered, does it hurt their credibility?

Awesome! Matt is such a great guy not just pretending like a lot of bands, but he's genuine! <3

yeah true that
Re: Noisecreep Interview With Matt - Is It "Un-Metal" To Have Manners?
I totally agree with Matt!
I agree because I'm in a metalcore band inspired mostly by Bullet and we had this guitarist who acted just like he was hot s***. he's only a sophomore and he's talking about getting drunk, f***ing people up, and everything he thinks "metal" really is. In addition he sucked majorly at guitar. I play guitar and I am the complete opposite of him and my lyrics and playing can be related to most people. Matt Tuck is a great musician who can put himself in another person's shoes and see how things are for himself.

GREAT interview! and I love the way that Matt puts it. I completely agree with him. I mean, adults look at kids or even other adults that are blasting their metal music from their ipod like if they are nothing but druggies, alcoholics, or trouble makers or something like that. It had always bugged me because those are actually some of the awesomest people you could meet. It's funny, my grandfather, who is going with me to Dallas on May 7th for the concert, LOVES metal, but even he says that every band member is on drugs.. -.- I proved him wrong ^^ hehe he doesn't believe that anymore.

Re: Noisecreep Interview With Matt - Is It "Un-Metal" To Have Manners?
Ive been listening to metal since the 80's, every singer has there own story and what they do and how they bring that across on stage. Honestly, when i see a metal band in concert i don't think about what went up there nose or how much they drank...as long as they are kicking ass and putting on a good show! Matt definitely delivers that! I have however seen a few bands (ones that I wont name *cough GnR cough*) where the singer was completely pissed drunk, had a horrible attitude and was downright mean to the fans...and it gave me a terrible impression of that band, in other-words. I wouldn't go see them again, and that's the way the press plays it all out, all it takes is one bad show and out come the rumors of how they worship Satan and bite heads off bats and throw dead puppies into the crowd lol. Keep on rocking Matt you guys are well off to becoming a legend in your own time!!! Back to the topic....lol...Its all about respect and how you treat people. Most bands write music that people want to rock to, not about how they grew up in a shack and ate worms for dinner haha!

LOVE the way he puts it!! Music is an art, but you don't have to be as rough as the songs they write. It's like Celine Dion writing a song about murder... it makes no sense matching murder to her own character, but it's still art, though Celine Dion makes me want to shoot puppies

I agree with Matt. One can be a practically normal guy who had a nice childhood and still write f***ing heavy metal music! If you're into metal, you don't need to have a horrific past or to be a problematic guy.
